PCRA-Birmingham Elects Officers for 2005-2006

The Birmingham Chapter of the Public Relations Council of Alabama has elected officers to serve for the 2005-2006 term.  The officers were inducted Oct. 7 during the organization’s regular meeting and member social at Restaurant G in downtown Birmingham.  Helen Todd of Regions Bank and past president of the organization conducted the ceremony.

The officers are:  Nan Baldwin of the Metropolitan Development, president; Jena Ogiba of Drive Financial Services, vice president programs-speakers; Mary Head of Sloss Furnaces National Historical Landmark, vice president-facilities; Dana McGough of DavisDenny Advertising, vice president-membership; Holly Shepard Lollar of Kid One Transport, vice president-projects; Terra Mortensen of Lawler Ballard Van Durand, vice president-communications; Ron Council, APR of Metro Monitor, vice president-accreditation/professional development; Joy Carter, APR of the UAB Health System, treasurer and webmaster; Josh Till of the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center, secretary/historian; and Ashley Fulmer of Style Advertising, student liaison.

Tina Atchenson of Highland Capital Brokerage and Jennifer Hatchett of the Junior Achievement of Greater Birmingham will serve as members-at-large.  Jody Seal of Alagasco is the immediate past president and will also serve on the board.

PRCA-Birmingham was recently named the Sharon Heflin Chapter of the Year, which is the highest honor given to a chapter by the state PRCA organization.  PRCA-Birmingham has 71 members.  The organization meets monthly and is open for membership to anyone in the public relations field.

PRCA is the state’s oldest and largest group of public relations practitioners. The organization exists to further the professional and networking interests of today's public relations and communication professional in private, public and nonprofit businesses and organizations. Along with networking, PRCA offers career development and civic improvement opportunities, seeks to mentor college students and works to improve the professionalism of public relations practice through its accreditation program. There are six PRCA chapters in Alabama: Birmingham, East Alabama (in Auburn), Mobile, Mobile, Montgomery, North Alabama (in Huntsville) and West Alabama (in Tuscaloosa).  PRCA celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2006.
