SPRF Awards Todd Senior Practitioner Status

Helen Todd, APR, has been selected a Senior Practitioner by the Southern Public Relations Federation (SPRF). SPRF is the parent organization of PRCA.

Helen is vice president communications for Regions Financial Corp. and is responsible for internal electronic and print communications across the company’s 15-state footprint. She came to Regions in May 2003 from HealthSouth Corporation where she was public relations manager for the Inpatient Division, working with more than 100 hospitals nationwide.

Todd has 14 years media and public relations experience with a background in both television and radio news. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama in 1989 and national accreditation from the Public Relations Society of America in 2000.

Todd was named 2002 Practitioner of the Year by the Public Relations Council of Birmingham and volunteers her time with Gateway, a residential program for abused teens, supported by the United Way. She also is a certified whitewater kayak instructor.

PRCA-Birmingham has not named a senior practitioner since 2001 and has only named ten others since 1990. The award is presented to veteran public relations professionals on the basis on high ethical standing, years of experience, accreditation, offices held on the local, state and regional levels and awards presented in recognition of professionalism.

The senior practitioner award will be presented at the annual SPRF awards ceremony in Biloxi, Miss. on July 12.
