Step 1

Step 2
Send the completed application and check (payable to PRCA) for the appropriate dues amount (including new member fee) to the chapter's vice-president for membership.

Step 3
Your local chapter's board of directors will consider your application. You will immediately be added to the local membership roster.

Step 4
The PRCA state board of directors must consider and act on your application before you can become an official member. Upon approval, the state membership vice president will provide you with a membership certificate and password to access the "Members Only" portion of this website. The state approval may take eight to 10 weeks following the submission of your application to your local chapter board.

Membership levels and annual dues
There are five PRCA membership categories. The local chapter reviews member applications to determine the appropriate category.

Membership level Eligibility Annual Dues*
Active  A full-time public relations practitioner, or someone who is exercising full responsibility for his or her employer's public relations activities. Applicants should spend 50% of their work time performing public relations duties or be solely responsible for the public relations function of an organization.  $90
Associate  Open to those with an interest in public relations but who do not meet the criteria for active membership. Usually reserved for vendors who benefit from the ability to network and associate with public relations practitioners.  $110
Sustaining 
Available to those current PRCA members who have retired from a full-time public relations career.  $20
Student 
Full-time college students interested in a career in public relations (usually used when there is no local student chapter available). $15
Charter  Bestowed as an honorary status to current members. It includes all the privileges of active membership. $15

* In addition to the dues amounts listed, active and associate members are required to pay a $15 new-member fee; students, a $10 new-member fee. Annual dues and new-member fees are payable with the application and are not prorated. Dues are only refunded if the prospective member's application is not approved.
