  • Job Summary

  • Responsible for researching, planning, implementing and evaluating public relations projects, including, but not limited to, pitching news and feature story ideas, coordinating media activities and promoting public relations messages in conjunction with Children’s strategic business and communications objectives. Coordinates internal and external media relations on local, state, regional and national level for routine and special events and related promotional activities. Tracks and shares media coverage with stakeholders and partners and acts as consultant and public relations liaison between Children’s, its staff and patient families and its many publics. Works with chief communications officer and communications manager to edit copy, write for various projects (media kits, newsletters, website, publications, house ads etc.) and carry out crisis communication plans. Seeks opportunities to incorporate new media into overall communications efforts. Trains designated spokespeople to best represent Children’s in all activities.


  • Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of communication, i.e., journalism, public relations or mass communications plus minimum of three years of professional experience in related activity.


  • Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of communication, i.e., journalism, public relations or mass communications plus minimum of three years of professional experience in related activity. Demonstrated superior editing ability, ability to manage multiple tasks, strong writing, organizational, computer and interpersonal communications skills required. Media experience highly preferred. Healthcare experience desirable.
